The results of that collision, you already know. Especially folks
at the Woodrow Wilson library ought to be pleased that this crash occurred. We
can’t know what may have happened had that collision not occurred... and
we certainly know what did happen. But there is something else we can
know: what DID NOT happen. One of the larger meanings, and to my mind, the largest, of 1912 comes of what did not happen... the revolution what was avoided, that is, What Taft got in the way of. And it didn’t have to not happen.
